This Tuesday, January 21 the La Serna girls water polo team beat Cal high 13-4. Not only was this a rivalry game but it was also senior night. The coach, family and friends watching celebrated the seniors last year as a La Serna High School water polo player. At the start of the game, both teams were battling for the ball, allowing the lancers to gain control over the Cal High Condors and be the first to score. The first goal of the game went to #2 Sophia Perez. Shortly after, #6 Casey Barragan made a great pass to #2 Sophia Perez making the score 2-0. By the end of the first quarter #13 Samantha Wisher, #11 Bianca Borunda, and #2 Sophia Perez increased the score by 4. Following the first quarter, the Condors were putting pressure on the Lancers, causing the Lancers to only score twice this quarter both by #16 Jackie Vega. Starting off the second quarter, #11 Bianca Borunda scored once again making it her second goal of the game. In addition, #6 Casey Barragan and #2 Sophia Perez increased the score once again. #11 Bianca Borunda scored her final goal of the game finishing off the game strong. The third period ended with the Lancers in possession of 12 points and the condors having four. In the last and final quarter the only goal scored was by #16 Jackie Vega making the final score 13-4. The Lancers felt very accomplished due to the win against their rivalry team, the Cal High Condors. They hope to continue to work as a team and win throughout the rest of the season.
