La Serna’s girls varsity basketball previously had a record of 3-2 before heading into game two in the Norwalk/John Glenn tournament. La Serna went head-to-head with Bell gardens to compete for a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament, where in the beginning of the game La Serna was winning and they were playing in a full-court man defense. By half-time La Serna was up with 22 points with Bell Gardens coming in close with around 18 points. In the first half of the game La Serna and Bell Gardens were both shooting relatively well, but by the second half Bell Gardens started making more and more three pointers. Towards the 2nd quarter and the 3rd La Serna dropped into a zone defense to try and shut down the shooters on Bell Gardens, but it was not entirely successful and Bell Gardens started to take the lead. Towards the end of the game La Serna pressed Bell Gardens and it started to bring them back, but there was not enough time and Bell Gardens won the game with a final score of 49-41.
